The primary role of the altar server is to assist the priest, where necessary, in celebrating the Mass.  This is done by setting an example to the congregation by actively participating in the liturgy. For example, through specific actions such as looking alert, as well as sitting, standing and kneeling at the appropriate times. Servers carry the processional cross and candles, hold the book for the celebrant when he is not at the altar and assist with the preparation of the gifts.

Youth in Grade 4 or older, who have received First Confession and Holy Communion, are welcome to serve at the altar. All Altar Servers must receive training prior to serving.  Adult men are invited to serve at weekday Mass in the evening.
