The seven sacraments touch all the stages and all the important moments of Christian life: they give birth and increase, healing and mission to the Christian’s life of faith.  There is thus a certain resemblance between the stages of natural life and the stages of the spiritual life. – Article 1210 of the Catechism of the Catholic Church

The effect of Confirmation is a special outpouring of the Holy Spirit like that of Pentecost. This outpouring impresses on the soul an indelible character and produces a growth in the grace of Baptism. It roots the recipient more deeply in divine sonship, binds him more firmly to Christ and to the Church and reinvigorates the gifts of the Holy Spirit in his soul. It gives a special strength to witness to the Christian faith.   Only those already baptized can and should receive this sacrament which can be received only once. To receive Confirmation efficaciously the candidate must be in the state of grace.  (C-CCC 268-9)

Baptized children who attend St. Francis Xavier School will be prepared to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation in Grade 7.  Students who attend Vancouver College and public schools must register for PREP classes to prepare for the reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation. Please register for PREP at the parish office in September.

Baptized Christians aged 18 and above please register with RCIA coordinators.  Details on the RCIA page.

2012 Confirmation Mass
